REVIEW OF THE MISSIONS WEEK. 13-21/09/08.

Fresh Springs Christian Fellowship were blessed to host a Missions Team of nine men, all of whom proved to be invaluable and helpful.   They were accommodated in a local church hall and ably led by Keith.   The team assisted with setting up halls for events, washing up, door to door work, street work, pub evangelism, schools and assisting in healing rooms.   Several of the team visited the local town centre businesses, asking if there were any prayer requests.   They were excellent "fishers", inviting passers by into the events, with a cheerful smile and greeting.   Their approach was non- threatening, gentle and winsome.   They were all amazing!

We hosted various events throughout the week.  On Tuesday, we held a Garden Market event. At this event, there were also cake stalls, Bric-a-Brac, a demonstration of and opportunity to card making as well as flower arranging demonstrated by Hilary, from St. Andrews.   Roger interviewed her and gave a gospel message and appeal, as he did at all events throughout the week.   The messages were all sensitive, relevant to the subject and penetrating.   Later in the week, Roger was accompanied by Paul, the escapologist.    His displays were also excellent and added an additional dimension to the Gospel presentation made by Roger.  Throughout the week, there were several responses at these public events.

On Wednesday, there was a tea dance, which was well attended and extremely well led by Duncan Richards.   On Thursday, we were privileged to have an excellent talk by Kevin Gordon, from the historical society and an author for the Sussex Express.    On Friday, we held a Community Day, which was opened by the town Mayor, Carolyn Lambert.   She braved putting her hand in the guillotine for Paul!!!   At the Community Day, stall holders included representatives from health care, education, social services, nutritional information, the Police, counselling and coaching services and the free advice of a computer expert.   Throughout the week there was a steady flow of people visiting the events, and many commented on the warm and friendly atmosphere and were amazed at free entry, free lunches and refreshments.  Visitors also commented that it was wonderful to attend events put on for the community, not just the church.   For us all this was a very positive experience as members of FSCF  worked together at catering, organization, meeting many new people, serving teas and coffees etc.   We were also blessed at participating in several inter-church events.

The biggest surprise for us was the success of the healing rooms.   We have been training a team for several months.   We had planned for ten hours only as there was a lack of availability of rooms in Clinton Centre.      On two occasions, people were knocking on the doors just closing to ask for prayer!   On Thursday, we were not supposed to be hosting healing rooms, but we ended up praying with four people in a corner of the room.   In all there were forty five visitors.   Many went out having sensed God's Presence, most felt loved, many felt "warmth" physically, some went out healed physically as well as emotionally.  In follow up calls, people have expressed great gratitude for the compassion and care they received.   A Visitor from Plymouth testified to having his shoulder, arm and fingers completely healed and one man walked unaided for the first time for years.   He went out with a radiant smile.   One lady had prayer for healing of an Achilles tendon and testified to increased mobility to walk on the next day.   On Sunday, there were ten visitors to the Church.   We are grateful to God for His love and grace, and grateful to TFM for their Christ -like example and service to God and us.
